Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, visited the Akwete Weaving Cooperative Society in Abia State on Tuesday, hosted by Governor Alex Otti and his wife, Priscilla. During the visit, she announced a ₦2 billion donation toward developing the Akwete fabric industry, and spoke on preserving Nigerian tradition and culture for future generations. The First Lady and Governor Otti later proceeded to Akwete Central School Field for a civic reception attended by government officials, traditional rulers, and residents celebrating the historic visit.
